FPS drop, stable temp, stable cpu/gpu usage, no virus

Hi,

Lately I have been having this really weird FPS drop. Both my games (League of Legends, Team Fortress 2) would run at a stable FPS (about 60+ FPS) for the first few minutes (which I estimated to be about 18-20 mins based on LoL gameplay), then after, this is where the drop occurs. It goes from a stable 60+ FPS to a mere 15-20 FPS.

This is even worse in TF2, where it goes from a stable 60+ FPS to a really low 7-20 FPS. The drop persists until I close both games.

CPU Usage is only 50-70% during gaming (due to turning off RacAgent and Superfetch) and temperature has only been 55 degrees when not in use; it goes to 80 degrees when gaming. I used SpeedFan to see the temperature to both its cores. GPU usage is at 70 degrees when not gaming, and at 85-90 degrees when gaming.

I have upgraded my graphics card to its latest, thinking that it would solve the problem. Sadly, it didn't.

I have run a full scan from AVG and Malwarebytes, and it showed no signs of infection. Thinking that AVG was the problem, I uninstalled it.

I have also defragged my PC via Disk Defragmenter. I also use CCleaner's Windows and Apps Cleaner, Registry Cleaner, Duplicate Finder and Drive Wiper, to no avail.

I have tried using a gamebooster (specifically Razer), and it did not help.
I have even tried setting my Power Option to High Performance, which, surprisingly, worsened my gaming experience.

I have possibly tried every fix, except cleaning it with a can of compressed air. My temperatures were fine so I assumed it isn't the case.

My PC was also reformatted in a nearby laptop repair shop recently due to a virus attack, so I have a lot of space left (and by that, I mean A LOT.)

I do not have a battery, currently, due to my previous battery being dead for about a year or so.
I am not sure if my PC is currently overclocked, but I remember not overclocking it ever since I used this.

I do not have any games other than League of Legends and Team Fortress 2.
I have ran League of Legends in this computer really fine before the reformat. I have recently downloaded TF2, and have used Chris' and m0re's configs for better fps, and at least it made it playable for the first few minutes before the drop kicks in.

My specs:

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium (6.0, Build 6001)
System Model: K50IN
BIOS: Default System BIOS
Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4300 @ 2.10 GHz
Display: NVIDIA GeForce G102M
Memory: 2046MB RAM
Page File: 1686MB used, 2649MB available
DirectX Version: DirectX 10

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

It's the temperature of your parts. Your parts are running pretty hot especially the CPU. I would dust out your pc, move any wires blocking fans, *install more/rearrange fans*, and if your pc is against a wall you should move it for a more open airflow

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.
May I ask what the normal CPU temperature should be?
I thought 55 degrees when not gaming was pretty normal, and that 80 degrees while gaming is too.
I was trying to avoid dusting my PC out because I did not know how to open it up, but I will try this anyway.

Hi,

I apologize, as I do not really know how to open up my laptop and remove the dust. If I tried, I might just cause more problems. I do not want to risk it.

I am, however, going to purchase a cooling pad for my laptop so that I could somehow reduce the heat.

EDIT: The "it" in the phrase "it persisted" refers to the drop.
EDIT 2: Here is a picture of my temperatures while idle, to somehow prove that it isn't the case (strangely the temps were lower than before): http://imgur.com/KHv1hzq
EDIT 3: Putting hl2.exe's priority to High in Task Manager does not work; I tried running it in that priority again to confirm if it works for me, but it does not.
