How to use home wifi to enable wifi calling & messaging? Netgear WNDR3400 displays media disconnected.

I have new DROID Turbo2 & want to use desktop computer wifi for phone calls & messaging when I'm home since I don't have Verizon (or any other) network cell service at my home. Router displays media disconnected. Can you provide any instruction to help me set this up? I'm not a techie.

Thank you for offering to help Alabalcho. Yes, I have DSL thru local (land line) phone company they installed through a XyXEL Prestige 600 router. Our Netgear WNDR3400 wifi router is connected between the ZyXEL & our desktop computer.

I'm getting internet access via computer wifi on phone, but can't send or receive text messages or cell phone calls over wifi. HD Voice & Video calling are both enabled on Droid phone. I downloaded & installed the Marshmallow operating system on Droid yesterday which is supposed to support advanced & wifi calling. These features are also included in our Verizon phone plan.

I'd appreciate any advice on how to get these options working. Thanks!
