I'm trying to figure out what sort of audio is supported by my motherboard as currently I have no sound. I think I understand fine I was want to make sure.
The physical jacks are only what you would expect for a 2.0 system.
But lists the onboard audio system as;
Audio Chipset --Realtek ALC887
Audio Channels-- 2/4/5.1/7.1-channel
* To configure 7.1-channel audio, you have to use an HD front panel audio module and enable the multi-channel audio feature through the audio driver.
So I presume a front panel audio module is just a module I can plug into the Motherboard to provide the jacks I require for 2.1/.5.1/7.1 sound correct ? But where does it get plugged into ? My front Audio port is used for the headphone/mic slots at the front of the case.
I thought about getting a sound card (mobo has 2 PCI-E x1) but one PCI-E slot is used for a wireless and my GPU is blocking the other one.
How do I hook up a system other than 2.0 ?
