Is it possible to use two different sound cards at the same time in windows 10?

I actually have one sound card and onboard sound.
I have the Asus Rampage IV Black ed that has decent onboard sound.
I also have a Sound Blaster Zx sound card which has amazing sound.

I would normally only use my Zx card but I have purchased the Turtle Beach XP 510 headset and that leads to me to use the onboard audio in addition to the Zx.
The 510 headset requires an optical connection to experience the dolby digital effects. But I have my sound card connected to my z906 speaker system through the optical cable for the dolby digital effects.

It all works ok but I do not have access to the Realtek control panel for my onboard audio, which has all the controls for the dolby digital effects for the headset.

Could it be that because I primarily use my Zx card that the software for the Realtek onboard sound will not install? An alternative to my dilema would be to get an optical splitter. It may work better for this as the Zx has better sound quality overall and better dolby digital controls. But I am honestly trying to avoid more cables behind my desk. As it is now it is really difficult to keep them organized....lol..

Hello... You should be able to load and use both APPs for each piece of hardware... Disable all audio hardware before install, physically remove the other Audio card too will help... Video card audio out, ZX, lan etc... keep it simple and install one device and driver at a time. B )

I had 3 audio cards in win3.1... back in the days of few interrupts and manual jumpers/ports etc... it is a balancing act, now days it much easier to get ALL them working.

I can easily switch between the two sound cards in the sound control panel. That is not my issue. My issue is I do not have access to the Realtek control panel for the added dolby effects. The Realtek sound card is supposed to automatically install with the drivers for the onboard sound, but it has not.

FYI I have plenty of things to keep my wiring neat, but the amount of wiring keeps adding up...lol. Right now I actually have two wireless headsets connected to my system...lol, but that is only a small part of all the wiring.

Hello... Different Realtek APP versions have different "features" enabled, try some OLDER or a version from a MB maker that states "Dolby" for that MB model. Realtek software is pretty universal between their Chip models.... When dealing with DOLBY you are dealing with a registered trade mark/product, and $$ is/are due, this is not of my audio use/needs, OR expertize on a PC.

I have seen mentioned that a change to a file in Realtek APPS can enable/un-lock these kind of features.

1) When having problem installing hardware drivers... DISABLE all other similar Hardware devices and you will have better success.

The onboard sound is licensed for the board. I used the software before when I was having problems with my Zx card and it worked fine then, but I was not using the Zx.
I am wondering if I disable the Zx and then reinstall the Realtek drivers I will then have use of both sound control panels. Consequently I had the onboard sound disable after getting my Zx to work properly but recently re-enabled it and there was no Realtek control panel. I am worried that will also happen to my Zx control panel.
