Hi, I've been experiencing some trouble with my relatively new computer that I built around 3 - 4 weeks ago. My computer is taking longer loading, every other hour it freezes for about a second and the fps in games has dropped. I've been playing a lot of Dirty Bomb and I used to get about 130 - 150 fps and no lag spikes on high settings, now I get quite a lot of spikes and around 50-120 fps. Super unstable. had a few power surge shutdowns so I assume that is the cause of my problems. My psu was not the cause of the surges as I haven't gotten any after I switched to a different outlet. Any idea on where I would start my troubleshooting?

Specs:
OS: Windows 10 Pro
Motherboard: Asus B85M-Gamer
GPU: MSI Gtx 980
CPU: Intel i5-4690K
SSD: Kingston KC400 128GB
HHD: WD Black 1TB
RAM: HyperX Fury 2x4GB Black

Any ideas would be great as I have no idea where to start, thanks :)

try to start your troubleshooting with the ram
you can use the windows memory diagnostics tool and run the extended test while leaving the other settings to the default
after you start the test press F1 to got the test settings
press tab if you wish to change other settings while I do't recommend doing so

then press F10 to apply the new setting to the test
or you can use Memtest86

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE EXTENDED TEST MY TAKE UP TO 12 HOURS TO FINISH PROVIDED THAT YOU DIDN'T CHANGE THE OTHER TWO SETTINGS
