Hey guys!

I wanna build my own PC, the motherboard is an ASRock FM2A88X+ BTC and my CPU an AMD Athlon x4 860k.

I read that I have to update the BIOS of my motherboard in order to work with the CPU.
But how can I update it, if it doesn't work with the CPU, it won't boot at all, right?

1. How do I update the bios?
2. Is it even possible?

The exact behavior isn't 100% defined, sometimes the CPU will boot but just not be recognized (shows up as generic AMD CPU). Other times, it won't even POST. I've seen both before... Just try it and see what happens...

New motherboards will come with an already updated bios.
Sometimes, the support update is just documentation.

If it is older, it will usually still boot to the bios where you can install an update if necessary.

If you already have the motherboard and cpu you have little recourse but to try it.
If it fails, you might need to borrow a processor that will work with an early bios.

If you do not already have parts, I would consider building with a current generation cpu/motherboard.

I just mailed the seller, I think it'll work fine.
I have the BIOS update on my laptop, so I can update if needed.
