Hello everyone,

I recently upgraded my RAM and bought 16GBs to go with my existing 8GBs. However since installing the new sticks my computer no longer uses the previous 8GB, it shows as knowing there is 24GB but only 16GB usable when I look at computer specs in control pannel.

Also the new RAM had not improved my rig, if anything it has slowed it down. I've seen people say that you need to match the speed of the old RAM with the new RAM. Could you please help me to understand how to do this and what speed it needs to be at.

Here is the new RAM I installed (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00J8E8Y5C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

I don't see any reason why not, it says it supports up to 32gb, then it can all work in dual channel mode.

I would imagine your motherboard can't handle the different RAM sizes so it is going with 4+4+4+4 (only using 4 of your new 8 per stick) so you can use 16gb in dual channel and 8gb single channel.

Ah okay then, thank you for telling me this. If I buy the same RAM do you think it would it would work and it would use the 32GB? Here is my motherboard (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3897#ov)
