So i have an Intel I3 4170 clocked at 3.78 ghz, 16 gb of patriot ddr3 ram 1600mhz, and a logisys 480w psu. my question for you is that im trying to make this into a low to mid rage gaming machine for low cost and because of that my power supply only has 3 molex connectors 1 which is being used by my cold cathode. but im buying an evga 960 ssc with an acx 2.0+ cooler and was wondering if molex adapters would be safe to use with my card. they have dual and single adapters and i wondered if i need the dual or the single because i know my card with pull 160w factory but once i OC it will be pushing 1530 mhz which im assuming would boost the consumption up by about 15 to 20 w. so should i go with a dual adapter, a single or would this just not be safe in the first place.

Do not under any circumstances try this. You will destroy your rig. Logisys sells "480W" PSUs that can only handle 196W on the 12V. It doesn't have a GPU connector because it's not capable of running one. If you try be prepared for a smoke and light show followed by buying a whole new machine.

Two part answer.

A molex connector only has one 12V (yellow) 18ga wire per connector so it would be preferable to use more than one connector (i.e. dual) to have multiple 18ga wires.

But I would not use that PSU for your new upgrade, it is simply not a good enough PSU to trust with your hardware IMO.
