Should I sell my Xbox One Kinect or use it as a webcam?

Hey guys, so I have an Xbox One Kinect and no Xbox One (sold it without). So I can either sell it for maybe $50, or I could buy an adapter from Microsoft for $50 and use it with my PC. I don't have a webcam currently, and I've been thinking about getting one for things like Twitch streaming, Skype, and Youtube. I've been told that the Xbox One Kinect Camera is actually pretty good, so just wondering if I should sell it or not, and if anyone else has done this already. Thanks.

In the $50 range it's a mid-level, though huge camera. In the $100 range (adapter costs quite a bit last I checked, not $100 of course though), it's not really all that good compared to excellent devices like the logitech 920
Yes, you can use it as a camera, but if you're interested in robotics or 3d printing I HIGHLY recommend you download the Kinect SDK (or kinfu if you're into linux instead) and play around with it. In the future it might even be possible to use it with windows hello.

If you're not into doing semi-productive things though, find your nearest college and see if one of their robotics/CS labs wants to buy it off of you. You might get a bit more than $50 that way.

Well I mean I'd have to download the Kinect SDK or whatever anyway just to use it with the PC, but the point was is it good as a webcam or recording things etc. or am I a lot better off not spending any money on it and selling it?
