Hi there,
Hope you`r all doing fine.
I have got an extremely annoying problem.
Recently I bought a M-Audio Project Mix I/O audio interface which uses Firewire connection to send/receive audio and Midi data to the computer.
Unfortunately my Acer Aspire V5, 573-G does not provide me with an Firewire port on its board, so I had to go and buy an converter card.
I got this ExSys EX-48015 miniPCIe to Firewire converter kit, hoping that it would do me a magic.
Sadly the century is 21st and magic rarely exists.. The card gets not recognized by the laptop.
Looked up everywhere in the device manager to try and catch a clue regarding the converter card, but had no luck so far.
Couple of things come to my mind after reading a whole ton of junk posts on the internet regarding a similliar situation, but not an exact one like mine:
1. The available, vacant (have two on my motherboard, one is occupied by the Wi-Fi card) mini PCIe is strictly designed to fit only WIFI cards and I have no chance whatsoever using it for my converter ?
2. The same vacant slot is designed mainly for ssd`s and again - no chance of playing with different interface peripherals..? ?
3. The slot is able to work with my card, but it doesn`t pass the ''whitelist'' check, which would be very shitty to deal with, as Im not a friend of modded bioses ??
Any ideas folks ?
I really need this thing working, as it is my only last option before buying an desktop/laptop which has an dedicated firewire port, but that would cost fair amount of money, and is not suitable for my broke ass budget atm..
Quick [Update]
Here are two photos explaining the situation with the mini PCIe slots on the motherboard.
As you can see for yourself one is occupied by the WIFI card and the other one is vacant / free:

I am running Win10 Pro currently and had no problems with anything so far, if that helps..
Any advice is highly appreciated here !
Salute.
