Dear Experts,

looking for after market GPU and have two hot options - Gigabyte WF3 OC R9 280x and MSI R9 290 GAMING 4G. The difference between them is arround 45$.
Both have more or less 10 months of warranty left.

My config: FX-8350/GA970a-UD3P/8GB DDR Ripjaws 2133MHz/Plextor 120GB MP5Pro/Corsair RM650W

I am playing on 1080p and there is no chance for 1440 or higher in the near future.
Is it worth paying more for 290? Or 280x will be sufficient?

Games I play: Witcher 3, X-Com2, Fallout 4, Starcraft 2, Dragon Age. Ocassionally Diablo 3.

Please give me a pieces of advice quick, because one of the offers is ending today in the evening.

I will be very grateful for your expertise.

you need a VERY GOOD 600w, you dont have that.

its bad its a tier 3 not really ideal in serious overclocking or super-high load situations, such as a Bitcoin mining rig or a high end gaming system.

If you have the RMi then yeah it's good, IF you just have a RM then no it's not good

your power supply is pretty bad...

I would not trust a 290 with it.

I don't know about the msi r9 290 but I do own 3 r9 280x gigabyte, didn't really play with them but I know they are stable, mining for 2.5years constant and they still don't give up, I also had 5 280x asus dc2t, they all died, so whatever you do, don't buy asus 280x they fail insanely much. That psu can handle the 290 easily, maybe not if you overclock it to the max and have cpu also overclocked but at stock it will run easily. With that said, I would still take the r9 290 coz its a better card, can be overclocked alot more, MSI is a fine brand. The 280x gigabyte in games will run about 10-20% slower but here's a comparison http://www.overclockers.com/msi-r290-gaming-4g-video-card-review/ you can see there the max usage is about 400W on the system. Get the r9 290 imo.

Thanks for all replies.
I managed to get some additional money and I bought after market GTX970 form Asus (OC Strix) with more than 1,5 warranty left.
I think it will the best solution for 1080p and for my PSU.
