Hello all.

Recently I purchased a new housing and new computer parts to upgrade my pc. I purchases a Z97 gaming 5 mother board from msi and a Intel i7 4790 CPU to match. After installing all components I turned it on, it booted up fine, fans turned on, lights turned on. Lights on the graphics card and mother board turns on , so I know power is going to it.

But when I go to my monitor I get no signal. No power is going from the mother board usb sockets to my mouse or keyboard. So I turned everything off, double checked the connections, every thing is plugged in where it should be. So I take miss gtx 970 graphics card out , and try using just the mother boards built in one... Still nothing, I take all but one hard drive and one stick off ram out. Yet still nothing. I dismantle the hole thing, and follow the instructions to the letter for a second time and install it all again. Still nothing.

I attempted different monitors, mice, keyboards. I had my self grounded the hole time, had one of those grounding wrist bands you get from pc shops, treated everything with care, when parts were not being used they were stored safely in there anti static bags that they came I'm.

I'm not sure where to go from here. I've followed the Trouble shooting lists to the letter. Rebuilt the thing again, checked and checked again all connections. I even pulled all the plugs out, and held the turn on switch for 60 seconds for what ever good that does.

Could anyone help? Have no idea what to do now. Or does this mean I was just unlucky and got a faulty mother board?or CPU.

It's not the graphics card because that works fine as I've tested it on my old mother board and CPU.

Hi Alex , I've since unbuilt the pc and discovered a couple of bent pins in the CPU holder. I've since returned the item and am waiting on a replacement. I'm 90% sure this damage was not caused by my self, but you never know. I'm now pretty sure this is what was causing the fault, I've also ordered a case speaker, which should arrive with the replacement to help in future builds.

Thanks for the help and I will post again when I get the replacement.
