PC freezes during start after partition for Windows 10

Hey Everyone,

I have been trying to download Windows 10, I currently have windows 7. I was not able to download Windows 10 bc my SSD (Samsung 840 evo) did not have enough partition. I am not familiar with partition and I was told to download a software and just expand the partition on my SSD. It went from 100mb partition I bummed it up to 2gigs.

Once the partition was done, it restarted and was trying to boot up but it would freeze and reboot just before I was able to get into the windows log in screen.

I am nothe sure what to do, I cannot get into BIOS and it continues to go I to a reboot cycle.

What should I do? I am not sure how to fix this.

Thank you in advance,

Declare

Hang on, i think i understand now. And yet, every time i start to write out what i think... I delete it again.

why did you think windows 10 needed its own partition? Did it say you needed more space to download the files?

Anyway, I now see what problem is - its doing its favorite boot loop cycle.

You need to get someone to download and run this: windows 10 media creation tool
That program lets you create windows 10 install discs, so make a USB or DVD (preferably DVD - see below)

why can't you get into the bios? That is first hurdle unless pc already set up to check DVD drive or USB at boot

Is it this one still? ASUS P8Z68 Gen3 - I see, MAKE A DVD as its easier to boot from.. that's one tip, Asus motherboards are just a...

I do no have an Hdd, I have 2 SSDs, One is a Samsung 840 evo and the other is a Adata S510, both are 250gb.
I get a brief BSOD for literally less than 1/10th of a second.

Um it did work for what i was using it for mainly gaming but if I ever had to download something it was usually a 50/50 shot on if it would be fine or i would get an error message.

I increased the partition size on my SSD bc I was told that windows 10 needs at least 500mb to work.

2 GB isn't big enough for win 10? I wish it was that small, try 28gb minimum. even the ISO is 3.2gb.

I am not sure what you did but it sounds strange.

Sure you didn't just download the ISO? As that won't work unless its installed.

Delete key is meant to get you into BIOS
if that doesn't work you can reset cmos battery, that should load the settings screen

If you have anything on drive you want to save, use this: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/use-ubuntu-live-cd-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-windows-computer/

I would suggest a clean install. it removes all the confusion with partitions too. Just follow this: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-windows-10-clean-install.html

NOTE: a clean install of Win 10 will require deleting all partitions on drive as it uses a different partitioning scheme to Win 7. Make sure to take everything off SSD that you want to keep :)

Everytime I tried to download windows 10 for free it would say not enough partition. I looked up the issue and people said to increase the partition to at least 500mbs to be able to download it.

Yes I still the have the Asus P8Z68 Gen 3 board, and now when I hit the delete button it takes me into Ameritech window that shows me that I have 1 keyboard, 1 mice, 2 drives activated and it says hit F1 to pick boot option but I try to hit F1 and nothing happens. I have hit every key and tried several keyboard and none of them work.

I did order a Windows 10 from Amazon (physical disc) and hopefully a fresh install will help like you said.

if your ssd is so full, you need a bigger one. You should have at least 10% free on it so it can run at full speed. Use one of them as storage.

need to get into bios before that DVD will be much use. When was last time you updated the bios? that gets you in, just to let you change settings, and set defaults.

which usb slots is keyboard attached to, if you use the rear usb ports they are attached direct to motherboard and tapping delete might be registered in time

your mobo so amazing it used to not even boot up using a PS2 keyboard. Try using the del button on the num pad

I had about 52gbs left on the SSD. I have not updated my BIOS is probably a year, I checked the ASUS website and I was up to date with my BIOS. Yeah my Keyboard is attached in the back onto the mobo. lets see I can try again.

So I can get into BIOS and I can pick which SSD i want to boot from, When I picked my Samsung one it tries to boot it gets to the "starting windows" and just reboots. When I try to boot up from my Adata one, it just says please install CD and hit repair computer. So those are the options I have at the moment.

i just read your hdd sizes. You should get a 2tb hdd and use it for storage of stuff that doesn't need to be blazingly quick. like music files and even some games. I have almost 2tb free space now, I doubt I ever use it all. Or buy a 1tb ssd and use one of the 250 just for windows and applications.

i have never tried but you might be able to use ezyflash to get in. Get copy of same bios you have now and copy it to USB. put USB into pc before restarting and its meant to see the bios file and now to load the bios utility to let you copy it. I don't know if this would work, a CMOS reset is probably safer.

Yeah I am going to order a 960gb Samsung SSD if I can get this to boot up.

How do you do a CMOS reset?

Reads post he missed while editing...

That is a good thing... not that windows doesn't work but that is fixable. Just need to wait for DVD from Amazon now. If you have it... follow fresh install instructions

Set bios to boot from DVD so you don't need to get back in again

if you want to save anything on boot drive, use the link I showed above to use Ubuntu live cd to access the drive - just don't ask me how as I don't know. It just looks like a good idea to try.

best way is to open d cabinet...detach and reattach d cmos battery...
