Asus z170 pro gaming
i5 6600k
...

Absolutely, providing you have a sufficient PSU.

You can probably get away with a GTX 960 as well, if you want to save some money. But yeah, an i5 6600k is definitely good enough for 1080p.

Using a i5 6500 in an HTPC gaming build I have for 1080P. Works great even with an older GTX 670. A 6600k(even stock)is overkill for 1080P really.

If your not OCing, the difference in FPS w/ a discrete GPU would be minimal, a few FPS at most. If your interested in OC, you have your answer.

Don't get a 960, get either a a 970 or 390, as for it being powerful enough, it's more than adequate.

See its awesome choice for gaming because i7 can be used for all heavy work like rendering, live streaming, video editing and all that stuff.
And if you dont have all that heavy work so you can go for i5 6600k as its a beast for gaming.
