Hey guys,

I'm having a problem where my PC is getting a black screen whenever I boot it, before it gets to the login screen.

The problem I think started from when I was playing H1Z1 (never happened before). The screen started to flicker and then the screen pixels changed to like a greyish color and the computer froze. The computer was working still after I restart it though. The problem would arise again whenever I started the game (this only happened in this game, everything else was fine), but after acouple of restarts, thinking it would fix the problem, the computer just black screened. Now when I enter the BIOS/safe mode the monitor display is messed up a bit as well(I can link a photo if you need it).

I've tried a couple of things:
1) I've booted my PC into safe mode and tried to uninstall the graphics driver (driver is AMD Radeon HD 7800 series). The funny thing is, when I uninstall the driver and restart my pc the problem is still there and the driver is still there when I go back into safe mode. Basiclly can't unistall it lol.

2) Using recovery mode to roll back my pc to an older date

Has anyone come across this type of problem before? And thanks in advance for the help!

My graphics card is: XFX R7800 (Let me know if you need ore information)

Solution
When in BIOS no GPU driver is loaded (only firmware). So if you see artefacts before even loading Windows, your GPU is likely having non-software related problems.
The only thing I can think of worth trying is to swap the integrated graphics priority (assuming you have integrated graphics) from PCIe first to integrated or vice versa, in the PCs BIOS (even if the new order doesn't make sense). For some reason some PCs gets confused to which is which (you can also test it by plugging your monitor into integrated when you get the back screen - if you get a picture that will be problem).

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not sure if I have integrated graphics or not tbh. I have a AMD 6300FX CPU and a ASUS M5A97 R2.0 MOBO. If I'm wrong, how would I swap the priorites in the BIOS? I can't find an option that allows me to do that. And how do I plug my monitor into integrated? Sorry for being a amatuer lol

here is what the monitor is looking like atm while I'm in BIOS. Those green lines are what I was talking about

That looks like a bad GPU to me. Have you tried switching cables/ports? e.g. Display Port/DVI/HDMI?

Yep I have, HDMI does not display for some reason.

Not sure if this will be of any assistance to get a clearer understanding of my problem but I found this forum link. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/594594/installing-amd-driver-causes-black-screen/
I have the exact same problems he stated. I followed his steps to uninstalling my graphics driver and changing the windows settings so it won't get reinstalled. That worked and I see that my system is running with the "Windows Basic Display Adapter" instead of my other one.

Here's the difference. He said that it fixed his problem but in my case everything is still the same. Any ideas? I'm just hoping this isn't a problem with any other hardware
