Bad motherboard or CPU?

Hi there,

I just built a system with the following components:

Asus A68HM Plus (new)
AMD A8 7600 (second hand)
Silverstone AR05 cooler + MX-4
2x4GB Hyperx 2133 DDR3 (second hand)
Sandisk Ultra II ssd (new)
Silverstone LC19 case with 120w DC/AC fanless power supply (new but had sat around for a few years).
Surge protector at the mains.

I put the system together with no problems. Installed Windows 10. Temps seemed fine. All fine for a few hours then switched it off overnight. It was fine the next morning for a few hours and I shut it down and went out.

Got home in the evening and it wouldn't start.

I press the power button and the power led flashes once, the CPU fan attempts to spin (it probably spins once) and it stops. It is almost like there is no power getting to the system. If I try and press the power button again without first switching off and on the power at the wall, absolutely nothing happens at all.

I got a new power supply thinking the one that came with the case was bad, but exactly the same thing happens.

I have tried unplugging everything from the motherboard that isn't necessary (USB headers etc) one stick of RAM, no RAM and nothing works.

The RAM and CPU have been used before so I doubt these are the issue, particularly as the system worked fine for several hours. It's not the PSU since I have tried a new one.

Does anyone have any suggestions or do we think the motherboard died?

Many thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I took everything out of the case and checked for anything that could be causing a short. The motherboard itself looks fine, just like brand new.

Any other ideas?
