Looking for a 2011-3 motherboard with the following traits:

1. dual socket capable (xeon 2690 v3 or similar)
2. 128gb+ ram capacity (256+ would be better)
3. smallest form factor possible (12x10 I guess?)

planning to fit this into a small of a case as possible, haven't chosen the case yet as the motherboard is the more limiting component

thanks

You can't go wrong with a genuine Intel motherboard. After that is usually Supermicro.

Dual socket and small form factor are competing against each other. To make the size smaller, then you have to get rid of DIMM sockets and PCIe slots. That wastes the capabilities of dual socket CPUs. It takes away space for features like out of band management (IPMI).

Can you recommend any specific intel motherboards? none show up on the compatibility list for this type of processor

Only Asus and Supermicro...

I kinda have my eye on this one http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon/C600/X10DAL-i.cfm

Do you see any problems with it? I'm a bit concerned about future compatibility issues, not sure if it'll work with the xeon e5 v4 and eventually v5 processors. No m.2 slots and slightly out dated bios on the x10 boards? I dunno, at the same time I don't see many better options
