Hey ,

I'm hoping someone can help me here. I built my pc a few months ago. My CPU up until about a week ago would never get hotter than ~50° Celsius. Now, when I boot it, it starts at around 70 degrees and sporadically moves up to the high 90's and easily breaks 100 degrees Celsius within minutes of booting.

My GPU never get's hotter than 40 degrees.

And my cooler is the CORSAIR H60 and my CPU is the It 4790.

I haven't taken anything apart yet due to the fact that these temps, in my opinion are completely ludicrous. Any ideas?

Thank you.

80-90c is not abnormal for an i7 4790 with the stock cooler (and safe), but I would expect it to be at least a little lower with a properly mounted and working Corsair H60 - perhaps 65-75c under stress testing? 100c is throttling temperature, where the CPU cuts back on clockspeed so it doesn't get dangerously hot.

I would suggest remounting your cooler, and check to make sure the pump has not failed.

I'm using the Thermal compound that came with the H60. Would switching that out help?
Also, my temps aren't even on stress. Those are my idle temps.
