Good Afternoon,

I wanted to ask the forums this before I complete the RMA with ASUS. I have a ASUS M5A99X PRO R2.0 that will not boot past the ASUS screen and allow me to enter the BIOS with additional hard drives plugged in. Here's everything I have done to fix this:

1. I have flashed the BIOS with the most updated and confirmed the install.
2. I have updated the SATA drivers.
3. I have confirmed all spare drives, SATA cables work through additional testing.
4. I have switched back and forth between IDE and AHCI.
5. Power is not an issue as they already run from the PSU full time although the SATA is not plugged in and also work with USB/SATA connector.

I do not believe the board is bad because when I built the system I had a spare 250GB that would and still does recognize. However when I try to swap this out for two new 1 TB drives it will not do anything.

Any help with this is appreciated. I'm just hoping I don't have to send in the board because I do not believe it has an issue.

Thank you.
Chris

When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature it's proper etiquette to pass on your full system's specs inclusive of your OS and connected peripherals. It;d help us two fold if you could list the drives you're looking to populate the board with. While the system is bread boarded, does the system acknowledge the drives individually in BIOS with only the BOOT drive connected off the first SATA port and the add on drives connected to ports 2 or 3?

* The 2xNavy Blue SATA ports are from the ASMedia controller and not the AMD SB950 controller. You're going to either enable the ASMedia in BIOS and after booting into OS install the drivers and then plug the HDD's to them, if you were attempting to plug them to those blue ports. The ports native from the AMD SB950 controller are in grey.
