Replaced the PSU yesterday because guy at Best Buy told me it was in fact dying and I go to turn it on this morning with the same result - nothing happens. So PSU is out. At this point I think it's the motherboard/cpu although my friend mentioned it could be a heat problem and I do remember one temp in Speedfan being particularly high which I will look into if I can get it up and running tonight. Please help if you can thank you!

Solution
Flip the switch on the PSU, press the power button - discharge any built up power. Wait 10 seconds Flip switch on PSU back on then start PC. I've seen allot of systems get switches stuck in the PSU from power not discharging.

Make sure it is compatible with your motherboard. Seems like the PSU is supplying power at times but somehow prevents power, might be due to heat issue as you mentioned. Try unplugging and reconnecting the PSU. When you say your computer will not turn on, do you mean nothing happens when you press the power button? Try resetting the motherboard, remove the battery and RAM and reinstall if possible.
