Okay here's the situation. I bought a Corsair M45 about 1 and half years ago. This mouse died after a year of use; I got it replaced. The replacement shortly died about 6 months after. Now, I'm looking a new mouse.

As you can probably tell, I've mostly narrowed it down to three mice.
-Asus ROG Gladius
-Asus ROG Sica
-Steelseries Rival 300

I have very small hands (17cm from the base of my hand to the tip of my middle finger). I'm right handed. I have a sort of palm/claw hybrid grip, where my index and middle fingers arch up, and some portions of the centers of my palm near the index and middle fingers don't completely make contact with the back of the mouse. With my small hands in mind, I'm used to the M45's weight, with none of the 3 weights inside the mouse. I think this makes the mouse weight roughly 90g (don't quote me on this). I didn't mind the M45's weight when it had it's 3 weights, I simply removed them since I was thinking this would help me move a bit quicker. I really prefer that the mouse have forward and back buttons on the side of the mouse. DPI buttons are a bonus, it isn't a deal breaker for me if the mouse has no DPI button.

If it helps, I play a wide variety of games: RPG, RTS, Grand Strategy, FPS. I don't exactly play competitively, but I plan try out CS:GO a bit when I get the mouse.

The problem is... I'm in the Philippines, and some of the mouse brands, are very very very hard to find, if not completely unavailable in the country - brands like: Mionix and Zowie. Roccat is hard to find as well.

The ones that are available (please keep these in mind):
-ASUS ROG
-Logitech
-Steelseries
-Razer

-Asus ROG Gladius = PhP 3,020
-Steelseries Rival 300 = PhP 3,150
-Asus ROG Sica = PhP 1,670

-Logitech g302 = PhP 2,300
-Steelseries Kana = Php1,400

My main concern with the ROG Gladius is it's weight (sites say 116g-117g), and the problem talked about in forums about click latency with the later firmware updates. So if anyone has the Gladius and updated to the latest firmware, please give me your opinion on whether I should buy the mouse. I'm also concerned about the weight of the Steelseries Rival 300 (sites say it's about 129g-130g), which is shockingly heavier though I don't find a lot of people complaining about its weight. For the ROG Sica, I really really like it (It's small, light, with a great sensor - Pixart PMW3310)! The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't have forward and back buttons.

So far, I'm leaning towards the Gladius because of the weight, compared to the Rival 300; plus I'm debating whether the ROG Sica would be better to buy, since it's cheaper, but has no forward and back buttons, compared to the ROG Gladius. So here's my current ranking on what I'd probably buy (1. = most likely mouse I'd buy)
1. ROG Gladius
2. ROG Sica
3. Steelseries Rival 300

Aside from these three, I've also looked at the Logitech G303, and the Steelseries Kana. The Logitech g303 being small and light, with an awesome sensor. The only problem is that I have yet to see one in the Philippines. They only have the g302, as far as I've seen. The problem I have with the Steelseries Kana is that it doesn't have forward and back buttons, only having one button on the side, for some weird reason, plus its problem with having a high lift-off distance.

I'm okay with buying the mice around the PhP 3k mark, but I definitely won't mind getting something a tad bit cheaper. Hahaha! I'd really appreciate the feedback! Thanks :D

The thing that seems to be happening is that every update might reset it to 1000Hz, causing problems (not sure). Anyways the difference with 500Hz vs 1000Hz is that with 500 you have ''better control'' but ''slightly less responsive''. To be fair, I don't think you should notice a difference in reaction time, as It's so little (1msec to 2msec (0.001 of a second, can't notice).

I'm using 500Hz aswell on mine (Corsair Sabre RGB), and a lot of people seem to be using that setting too.

I kinda think you should still go for the ROG Gladius, the reviews actually seem good, and the verdict is also good, looking at many user thoughts. Like, I can't guarantee it but I would suggest it over the Rival 300 and G302. In my experience Steelseries...

I see... The Reddit thread you linked also was one of the things I read about the latency problem. They say that using Asus' ROG armory software automatically updates the mouse's firmware, which causes the problem. Meaning if I bought this, I wouldn't be able to use the Mouse software without causing latency problems.

Isn't there a downside to lowering the polling rate? So would you recommend the ROG Gladius or should I just settle with an ROG Sica, Steelseries Rival 300, or maybe a Logitech g302 (g303 if I happen to find one)?

I didn't know that! Alright, 1 or 2 milliseconds won't really bother me. Okay, so far I'm still leaning towards the Gladius. I'll wait for a bit of feedback from someone who's had the Gladius and see if they experienced the click latency problems with the firmware. I'm not exactly sure if these are isolated cases, since I've only seen people talk about this problem in one forum. If it was a problem for all gladius mice, I expect there to be more people asking questions about these problems on the internet... So if anyone's had the Gladius, please give your experience with the mouse and your opinion on whether or not to buy the mouse (Do you think I'd be okay with the size and weight of the mouse, even with my small hands and my grip type in mind?). I would check out the mouse's size and weight personally, but the stores here don't display them out in the open, and you can't really open the box if your'e still undecided.

Thanks for all the feedback RCFProd!! :)

Okay... Sorry it took me some time to get back to this. So it's a little over 3 months since I bought the ASUS ROG Gladius. 3 words: I LOVE IT. I was worried at first that it would be too heavy, since it has no weight adjustment system of any kind, and I'm used to using mice that are on the lighter side of things. It does indeed have quite a bit of heft to it, but after just a few hours I got used to it. When i say heft I don't mean that it's heavy to the point where I think it would be uncomfortable for anyone to use. It just feels solid. Mind you I have really small hands, so if I can use it with no problems, you can most probably use it.

Pros:
-feels solid
-no mouse acceleration (as far as I've noticed)
-GREAT forward and back buttons
-Nice middle mouse click
-AWESOME textured rubber pads on the sides (Like seriously, I love them)
-extra omron switches
-Red LED lighting (breathing/static)
-Ergonomic shape (it just lets your hand hug it)

Cons:
-left and right buttons can move from side to side a bit if you apply twisting motions with your fingers (It's not serious by any means, I'm just nit-picking. It just moves a bit if you apply enough pressure)
-No RGB lighting

I hope this helps anyone deciding whether to buy this. Take note that the only other proper gaming mouse I have used was the Corsair M45, plus I am no mouse connoisseur. I like the Gladius much better than the M45.

So if you're wondering whether the Gladius is a good mouse for day to day gaming, IMO the answer is a definite yes.
