I've been doing a lot of research on what specs are able to run arma 3 well. I originally was going to buy a desktop from a store, but found building it to be cheaper and more effective. I was wondering if this build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/zZMwwP will be able to run arma on mp servers on very high-ultra settings with at least 40+ fps?

Also: I was hoping to stay under $800, if you have any advice on what I can cut back on to reduce the price, that'd be great.(PS - I know the optical drive and wireless adapter aren't necessary but I want them too so :p).

I wouldn't say you're able to play it on very high or ultra, but that's because the game is REALLY hard to run.
I own a gtx 970 with an i5 4690k and I can't even run it on very high/ultra. But you should be able to play it on medium/high with 40+ fps.
Arma 3 has a fps counter in the video settings, so if you play around with the settings you can see right away how much fps you'll get.
So you can easily play with the settings how you like them.

There's no specific hardware combo that will run arma 3 better than the other it's mostly just go with the best you can get, tweak the game and sone settings and find a decent server to play on.

I have a 6600k and r9 390 I play on ultra at around 40 to 80fps. If you cheap out on w everything except the cpu and gpu you could max arma 3 at 30 to 40fps for 800$

You could get a cheaper motherboard and a non k cpu and save a good $100 and use that to get a r9 390 instead of the 960.
