Hey guys, I'll start with my specs:

Mobo: gigabyte f2a88xm-d3hp FM2+ A88x AMD

CPU: Athlon X4 860k (stock cooler and clock speed)

Ram: 16gb hyperX fury (2x8)
1866mhz

Graphics: EVGA GTX 950 FTW

Case: corsair spec-01

Storage: 1TB WD Blue 3.5"

OS: Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, UEFI

So now for my issues:

Issue #1
This this is BLAZING! Like seriously, the CPU is hitting 70-75 degrees idling in the bios! And going over 90 degrees while under game load playing COD. The stock cooler is just screaming trying to keep up.

Issue #2
The system halts, locks up and becomes completely unresponsive at random times. This period of being "frozen" lasts about 10 seconds every time and then simply resumes right were it left off. Comes and goes, but usually more frequently when the hard drive is actively doing something. The screen freezes and all inputs are disabled and nothing works for a 10 second period, then resumes. During this time the hard drive activity is pegged at 100%, but it's not doing anything! The transfer rates are zero and response time is 0ms. When the system resumes, the hard drive goes active again and starts working normal until it locks up again.

If anyone can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it. At this point I'm in over my head and need help from one of you experienced folks. This thing won't even restart or shut down without locking up during it and having to hit the reset. Let me know if you know why.

Thanks!

Go into pcpartpicker and reconfirm that all your components are indeed compatible.

Although you mention the cpu is at stock speed, reconfirm this and other settings by going into the bios and selecting 'load optimised defaults'

Did you recently build this yourself? if yes recheck cpu cooler seating. Cooler paste applied? etc

Is the cooler fan power lead plugged in?

Any warning bleeps during/after power on?

Thanks for your quick reply!

I have checked that all these work together. Cpu fan is plugged in and running normal, it's seated fine, even took it back off and cleaned it and put on some MX4 compound and it got a little better but still burning up. I can probably get over it and grab a 212 evo later, the biggest problem now is random lock ups

Yeah, i'm just going to run the stock fan at 100% until I get the 212 evo.

Anyways, this locking up and freezing for 10 seconds at random times is really making me go insane. What could be causing this??
