Faulty hardware will do this in bios, Windows is not even accessed at this time so i doubt software being at fault, i would try it with just keyboard/cpu/psu/ram and see what happens in bios,if not we need to swap out each to see which is faulty . if it goes well, then add the HDD/gpu, one at a time, till it throws a hissy, then you will know which device is causing this bios freeze . Ram/cpu could certainly do this also their settings in bios can cause this , Or maybe the bios needs an update to support the cpu/ram/etc, your cpu is Haswell Refresh, Meaning that cpu came later after the board was made and would need a bios update/flash to support this later cpu's microcode . What bios edition do you have on the bios screen?

Yes 1.9 is latest, can't blame that Still thinking hardware, Heatsink installed correctly, sitting flat and firm, not over tensioned, no paste touched the pins/pads of the slot/cpu (sometimes paste on your finger touched ram/cpu contacts) All motherboard standoffs are correct, not screw too tight(only the ones used to screw it down, none under the board where they are not meant to be)?Sounds like a short/bad/dirty connection

Yeah not getting anywhere think it's time to send mobo back, not sure how I can tell if it's that or CPU though?
