Depends on the games you play. If you want PhysX, like the weapon debris effects in Fallout 4, then you'll want to get the GTX 970. AMD doesn't really offer any unique graphics settings, but some specific games will run better on a 390. With the GTX 970, you'll sometimes get more graphics options and certain games will run better than they would with a 390.

That doesn't make any sense. If we're talking about 1440p, no way the GTX 970 is better than R9 390, be carefull doing such affirmations.

OP: Depends your system. Which is your current PSU, and which is your resolution to play?

yea, even i personally think GTX970 has better performance, just don't want to make a wrong choice.
