Ok so I am at my wits end with this build. This will be my 2nd build for my sons 18th birthday and for some reason I cant get the damn thing to post. Quite the long saga over the last 3 weeks. Was able to get the rig to post 1st time building it to only get a blue screen of death while installing Windows and updating drivers. Replaced so many parts, everything but the APU. Made many trips to my local MicroCenter to replace parts the customer service people know me by name now.

Anyway to much rambling. I have linked my build below. I have read thru the stickies and tried everything suggested. I have attempted at bread-boxing as well. Fans spin up and run constantly however no display no post. Seems MOBO is getting power, at least I think so. I have a MOBO speaker but unsure if its working as I get nothing from it. The HD and GPU haven't been installed when attempting to post that can be ruled out.

Anything else that I might be missing? Bad memory perhaps? Please help!

Thanks in advance!!

some ideas:

1) remove your graphics card and use the video output from your motherboard

2) test your monitor on another machine or try a different monitor

3) try a different psu. those corsair cxm series ones are notorious for problems. it would explain the blue screens and the fans spinning up with no display. any experienced person here would have told you not to buy it.

Thanks for the quick response!! I don't have the GPU installed at this time. I haven't sense I had the 1st issue. I have tried 2 different monitors/HDTV (HDMI) having the same result. Haven't yet tried another PSU. Had no idea that these CXM series are trash. What would be a good one to swap this one for? If it passed the paperclip test it still can be bad? The PSU that is.

Thanks!

In many of these case, especially with new system, the motherboard is the culprit. Now that I see asrock, I tend to believe I might be right.

Did you change your motherboard already for another one?

The other component that raise question would be your power supply. Did you try your system with another power supply from another built?

I don't believe your memory could be your issue since a computer without ram still boot.

Nope, it doesn't post. (I tried with my i5 4690 with a B85 mobo, without luck)!

OP: Any way to ask to seller the BIOS info?

By the way, I don't believe you have a bad quality power supply. I was using OCZ ones for years without issues, however I had one Antec that was DOA and it was supposed to be the cream of the cream.

I honestly believe your motherboard is the problem but check your system with another power supply first before going back to the store to ask for an RMA.

Yeah this one I just got in the mail yesterday. Reviews seemed solid. Did a lot of reading as the Gigabyte board I started with had a lot of issues from all the reviews I read. I need to just pull the PSU out of office PC and try that.

The BIOS is not the problem. If it was, a simple BIOS reset would suffice.

I posted in OP that I have read stickies and tried everything before posting here.

LOL... Gigabyte... I had to RMA one of these board 3 times and it was the last time I purchased anything from them.

You have your answer then, your power supply is DOA. Try another one before going to the store since you told us you had another system, and check your son's system.

It will take you an hour at least.

Strange as I double checked that last night with a magnifying glass. None of the pins looked damaged at all. No chance its the RAM?

Very unlikely... however remove the ram and give it a shot.

Hmm this is getting really interesting.

Remove the RAM, remove the GPU (if not already done), switch HDMI/DP cable (just in case, however I know it is not the issue here), unplug your SATA cables and give it a go.

If it doesn't post, it's your motherboard or your CPU... however all the cpu are tested out of the factory and I never seen a cpu DOA in my life.

As said, you might want to consider the store to exchange your asrock for a MSI or Asus board. If you got 2 DOA of the same board, you will always have problems. My Gigabyte motherboard was exactly this.

This was happening way more in the past because CPUs were having pins, however now it is a very unlikely occurrence.
