Bottleneck: Network LAN transfer Speed Issue

Hello..

I've been having some network speed issue for quite some time and was hoping for some insight on what may be the cause.

Setup is this..
3 PCs connect via Linksys SR224 Switch 10/100 24-port

The Switch connects to Netgear N300 Gigabit Router model: WNR3500v2 Router with 3 more computers and multiple Wireless devices.

Then the N300 router connecting to the Time Warner Modem.

My concern is this..
I do a lot of large file transfers from my 3 PCs (on the switch) and my thru-put has dropped badly.
I use to push around 100mb/sec and now I am lucky to get 10 to 13mb/sec

I've fiddled with the NIC properties HERE and cannot for the life of me figure out why it has dropped.

I do have a second NIC card installed on one of Linksys Switch PCs and was thinking of getting another NIC for the other Linksys Switch PC.

What suggestions would any have to again reach maximum LAN transfer speeds?

10 to 13 MB/s (assuming you mean megabyte per second and not megabit) is exactly what you should be getting through a 100 Mbps (megabit per second) switch, since that converts to 12.5 MB/s.

Are you sure your PCs weren't previously connected through the Netgear gigabit router, which would have given you exactly 100-125 MB/s (=1000 Mbps/1 Gbps), and not the switch?

10MB/s to 13MB/s is max for 100mb network. What does the network tab of the task manager say you are getting?

Two network ports connected from a single computer to that switch will only make things worse. That is not a managed switch and does not support link aggregation.

You need to replace that switch with a gigabit capable switch. That is what will improve your network most.

Network performance depends on the slowest device in the chain. You can have all the gigabit devices and cables you want.
But if one thing in there is 10/100....that's the most you will get.

Sounds like the plan then...
Any recommendations on a decent switch and would moving all the PCs to the switch make a difference?

No, it should not impact at all. I have almost all of my systems connected via switches.
No problems.
