Hey all,

I have bought a gaming laptop in September for my exchange to a different country. I never used it so much because of my own pc back home but now that I am here for about two months and using this laptop heavily, I am afraid I am doing things wrong and that my laptop lifespan will dramatically decrease by myself so please I hope someone can calirfy a few things for me.

I Use this laptop for gaming purposes. It has a 970m in combination with a 6700hq and 16gigs of ddr4 Ram. I connected my own gaming mouse and keyboard and 7.1 headphones (plantronics).

Now with all the new games coming up I decided to check up a few things like temperatures and such and check my daily use and to those facts i have some questions.

- What is a safe operating temperature for a laptop like this? After playing gta5, gothic battlefleet, battleborn beta and those kind of games on Ultra preset, after gaming for about 2 hours, The temps of the parts are:

GPU max 70 degrees. Idle it is lower than 30 degrees celcius.

CPU temps are around 70 degrees. After battleborn beta on ultra and Kerbal space program 1.1 on max it was about 72 degrees after 2 hours of playing time.

I noticed that my fans are really spinning because I can hear them. Normally on just browsing or watching a movie, they don't make any noise at all.

I also have a question regarding the use of my battery. Since i am using this laptop often, I decided to mostly play with the charger connected to it. I can not remove the battery so I am worried that this will destroy my battery. I occasionally remove the charger and let the battery drain to about 15% and then charge it again and use it a while on 100% with charger still plugged. Is this good practice for using my laptop?

I also noticed that when unplugged, The temps of all parts do not go above 45 degrees. With the charger plugged, they go to 60 degrees max. Is this common to laptops? I measure all of these temperatures with HWMonitor and realtemp/Core temp

I am sorry for this long story, But i hope someone can clarify me if use my laptop wrong, or if there is something wrong and I should do something about it.

Thanks in advance and sorry for grammar mistakes. English is not my native language.

Those temps are fine. Due to the lack of cooling that is possible in a laptop, the components are going to be hotter than a desktop with a decent cooler. Nothing to be concerned about.

As for your battery, im sure there is a way to replace it just by popping open thee back and unplugging it right? What laptop is it? Your method of battery training is good, You shouldnt leave it plugged in all the time, however you should not always unplug it right when its done because your battery will degrade over cycles as well.

Yes it is normal that the temps are cooler when on battery because the system is trying to conserve power by bringing down the core clocks of your cpu and gpu, resulting in less voltage needed, and therefore less watts...

Everything you are doing is fine, nothing to really worry about as described here, and your English is fine BTW.
