Hey guys! I was recently helping my cousin build a pc and when I tried putting in the motherboard (MSI Z170a Gaming M7), I couldn't get it lined up with the i/o shield. What I find even more weird is that all the pre installed stand-offs are lined up but the i/o shield isn't. Can I get some help here please? Any advice would extremely appreciated!! Here are the specs:

MSI Z170A Gaming M7\
NZXT Noctis 450
Intel Core i5 6600k
NZXT Kraken x61 280mm liquid cooler
MSI GTX 960 Gaming 4G
EVGA Supernova 750 G2
16gb 3000mhz g.skill tridentz ram
1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue
12GB SSD

I don't know why put all the specs, wasn't necessary but I felt like it :)

I ran into the same issue. What you'll find is that two of the stand off screw holes are already filled with the I/O cover screws. The nuts on the bottom that secure it to the motherboard make it so that the mobo doesn't sit flat and it won't align with the I/O shield.

To fix this, remove the nut and fasten the screw through the I/O cover and mobo to the standoff. Voila! Everything fits and aligns as it should!
I once received an Asus WS ($300) board that was bent like a banana....missed the opening by over 1/2"

1. IS the I/O Shield snapped in all the way ?

2. When you installed the MoBo, did you "angle" it in ? The side with the I/o should be lower with the rest of the board going up from the I/O side on a 45 degree angle. Watch for any prongs on the shield which may get caught on the MoBo.

I have the same issue here, using an NZXT Phantom 530. It's got to be the mobo, but it works just applying a little bit of pressure on the board and putting a USB-stick in there and it'll stay down there. It might be a little inconvenient from time to time when you have unplugged everything from the back, but I think I can live with it myself.
