Hello, I am interested into overclocking my cpu from 3.8 to 4.8 ghz. So I want to be able to overclock, but I don't know what my voltage should be or the importance of it. I have the option to overclock to 6.3 ghz but I dont want to kill my PC so I am good with 4.8 ghz. I overclocked my CPU to 4.8, but then my computer froze after about an hour, then I restarted my PC. I want to be able to have my PC at 4.8 GHZ or more permanently, but don't know the best way to do it. PLZ help!

Solution
4.8ghz is a pretty high overclock, and you should not be going so high considering you dont seem to know so much about what you are doing. Bringing up the core clock will make the system capable of more instructions per set, however will require more power to operate at this frequency so you need to bump up the voltage. The way you should overclock is bring up the core clock until the system is unstable and then bring up the voltage a little until it is stable and then repeat until you bring up to voltage to the thermal design limit or a thermal temperature limit. Do some researching on youtube to see this more in depth. You think you can overclock to 6.3ghz? Do you have liquid nitrogen in your house and are using that to cool the cpu...

You shouldnt even get close to 5ghz as the fx 4300 is a fairley low binned chip and that is going to require some serious voltage increase and im sure the temps are up in the 80C+. Do some research before you get into overclocking.

I don't think you understand overclocking. I would advise that you read about it before messing with the BIOS and destroying your system.

First, 4.8 is a very high overclock. It is not a guarantee that your chip can reach a stable overclock at that speed. 6.3 is impossible for just about everyone.

Second, what are you using for a cpu cooler, mobo, and PSU. You might not have the necessary hardware for overclocking that far.
