I have an urge to upgrade my CPU

I'm going to be getting some extra money soon and I'm thinking of upgrading my CPU with the money. I would like to get the Core i7 5775c. I'm interested in this CPU because of its massive L4 cache, lower power consumption, and its gaming performance. At only 3.3GHz this CPU manages to keep up with and even surpass the 4.0GHz Core i7 6700K in some games due to its L4 Cache. What is there to be gained? Up to a 20% improvement in gaming performance compared to my current CPU with less power draw and lower temps. So why am I posting here? I need help deciding whether or not I should get it. I'm fascinated by this CPU and would really like to own it due to its rarity. I would also like to own something newer than Haswell. I love CPU's and I find this one particularly interesting due to its low power consumption and L4 cache which boosts game performance more than a good overclock would. At the same time I don't like the low overclocking potential of the CPU. Most people max out at 4.2GHz with some people being unable to hit 4.0GHz. The low overclocking potential doesn't bother me that much though because that L4 cache makes up for it in my eyes. My current CPU the Core i7 4770K does a good enough job already but this urge for something newer is overpowering. I'm addicted to buying new parts. When I have extra money there is nothing I like better than to buy a new part for my computer. I would go to Skylake but I can't afford the extra motherboard and DDR4 RAM to go along with it.

its not like its a super upgrade from what you have, but, if you have money to burn
want something newer than haswell, but sliiightly older than skylake ;), but is better than skylake, and makes you feel "good"
by all means get it, burn that money, what good is it gonna do you in 20 years after saving up,
you are clearly aware of all teh points, you made them yourself, and even pointed ut you dont "need" to but at teh same time its cheaper than, and you cant afford, an entire system upgrade

what would be the other option? wait a couple of years before you finally do that system upgrade? but wouldnt you do that even if you had the 5775c? and you could prob manage to save the cost of that cpu up again in those "years" timeframe anyway...

Honest answer, if this is money you don't need to put into retirement, car, house, kids, wife, or some other bill, and you can afford to not have it, then buying a new cpu sounds like a fine way to spend mad money to me. That being said, a 4770k is a fine cpu and won't be obsolescent for a long time(5-7 years I bet).

you made all teh points,
you want it now, if its not like you "need" the money on anything else more important or vital or rent.. go for it man,, satisfy that itch, and feel "good"
(BUT rent comes first!)

I find that one interesting too, mainly because it's kind of an orphaned underdog (I almost feel sorry for it XD) and has the only integrated Intel graphics in a consumer-oriented CPU that aren't completely horrible. I've been trying to figure out whether there are any scenarios in which it would be worth someone's while to buy it and run with the Iris Pro 6200, even on a temporary basis, rather than picking up a discrete card...seems like there must be something it'd be good for.

Anyway, if you like and can afford it, then by all means, go for it! Let us know how it turns out.

Thank you for the reply.. Bills and everything like that are already accounted for. My uncle is getting some money and he's giving me enough to buy the CPU if I want to buy it. If I don't spend the money it will probably go back to him as he will want it for gambling. I expect him to lose all his money and then want this back which is why I have to spend it as quickly as possible. I would rather tell him I don't have the money than say no to him sense he's the one who is letting me have it in the first place.
