Honestly? Just about anything you want. I have a Core 2 Quad at 2.6 Ghz (worse for gaming, but better for rendering videos and art :)), 5 Gbs of DDR2 RAM, and a GTX 750 Ti 2Gb. I can play every game I have at good frame rates. Granted, I plat at 1360 x 768, not 1920 x 1080. I don't know about the rest, but GTA IV for sure. I can run GTA V on low to medium settings.

most games no issues pay to upgade ur ram to 8gig for a buffer tho i play more graphic intensive games on a worse set ups was using core 2 set ups for gaming b4 i went to i series the duos go hard for the age just crank up ur video settings using the asus gpu tweak & u shudnt have issues make sure ur using windows 10 pro makes a diffrence to smooth out the diffrences between older series processors to the new vid card fixeds the bottle necks in the mb designs of the era i prefer the duos tho still 1 of the best series intel released & cheap to upgrade & replace

Your PC is still decent in specs and you should be able to play most games except maybe the latest ones on medium at least. Your main bottleneck seems to be your RAM. 4gb is too low to run modern games at decent framerates, also DDR2 is really obsolete now.

u can still get good ddr2 ram easy enuf if u look in the right places match it to what u have got now u should be able to get 4 gig sticks easily throw a couple big sticks in u shud be good to go u wont have the speed or frequency that the ddr3 & 4 ram have but pick the sticks to suit ur mb the gigabyte boards are prety user friendly u can get the asus or gigabyte 775 socketed ddr3 equipped mb to that can give u turbo boot abilities as u need it was going to go that route but went i series instead that's another idea that give u some egde on the newer titles as most specs are recommendations half the time ur os will help most 10 is fantastic for playing games u shudnt on below par specs no issues

His motherboard can only accept a maximum of 4gb RAM so his only option is to upgrade his motherboard. In turn this means upgrading CPU too however, a costly choice.

Either invest heavy in a new PC or accept that you can play most games on medium except for the latest ones (which should be fine).
