Yo guys.

I was thinking about upgrading my RAM from Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 to 2x HyperX Savage DDR3 2400MHz 8GB. A friend of mine told me that i needed to make sure if my motherboard was combatible with this RAM. Im running a MSI Z77A-GD55, Socket-1155 motherboard.
Thanks in advance! :D

The memory controller is built into the CPU
The max speed that the RAM can run at is the fastest common speed.
The new ram will be compatible, but maybe not as fast as it could be.
Also RAM speed doesn't make a significant impact on most game performance. (With some exceptions FO4 for example)

I always read differing opinions on this. I heard it generally bumps up the minimum fps, making games run smoother. And of courseI hear it doesn't help much. So I guess it comes down to how much money you want to spend for fine tuning. The extra potential fps come out to no less than $10/frame in most cases I imagine.

I'm running 1600 mhz right now too and was considering upgrading to 2133 mhz a week or two ago. In the end I decided to just save the $80 to help take the edge off of a top-of-the-line pascal card when they come out.
