I have a MS Natural Wireless Ergonomic Keyboard 7000. Recently I've noticed that there is a lag when I am typing. It is more pronounced at some times than others. I'm not sure what's causing it but what happens is when typing no letters will show up and then they will suddenly show up but not everything I've typed since the system was obviously not getting everything there are missing characters. Or there will be doubles of a bunch of letters in a row. This happens for no reason I can see. The problem is not a lack of resources this system is loaded. It's a 4770K CPU with 32GB of 2100MHz RAM I'm usually only using about a max of 30% RAM and 5-10% CPU Usage when this is happening.

Thanks to both of you both good suggestions. it turns out the issue was that I just added a Corsair H2100 Wireless gaming headset and it uses a usb transceiver which I had placed right next to the keyboard transceiver. Problem solved but thanks so much to both of you for taking the time to help a complete stranger. I just love how the PC community is so willing to help out folks they never met and never will. It's wonderful to see that side of human nature because it's so contrary to what the media and TV would have us believe about human beings don't you think. Cheers from Canada.
First you need to establish if the problem is with that particular keyboard or not by swapping it with another keyboard to see if you get the same delay problem. That would be a good starting point, may save hours scratching your head where to look for the cause when it might simply be the keyboard itself that's faulty.

Battery fully charged?
Position the receiver directly in front of the keyboard and test again
Pair the receiver and the keyboard again by pressing the pairing buttons on these devices.

Did you upgrade to windows 10? Try reinstalling intelliType software from Microsoft for win 10. Or if not for win 7
