so i a few months ago i build myself a new pc. I didnt have any real issue up till now.
I read a lot of threads but i just cant seem to find a solution.

Some games just make my entire pc freeze on startup or as soon as i press the login button (Tera,C9) only option then is to use hard reset button at the back

On the other hand i can play plenty of games without any problem whatsoever. LoL, MGS5 Rocket League and CSGO work just fine..

I read that possible culprits are the PSU or the RAM, maybe even the motherboard
Maybe its worth mentioning that i frequently get the message that a device has been unplugged, the speakers. It immediatly "plugs itself in" again though.

my system:

motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B150-HD3P Intel B150
CPU: i5 6600k
GPU: nvidia gtx950 gigabyte overclocked version
RAM: 16gb hyper-x DDR4 2133
and a 550W PSU which is already quite old and salvaged out of my old prebuild pc so that might just be the culprit.. but then again it worked just fine in the other system

Solution
I think i found the fix!

When i tried to boot into safe mode, my pc would freeze too.

So i thought it might be a problem with windows afterall. So i formatted everything and reinstalled Windows 10

For the first time i can launch the game C9 without freezing so i am assuming it should work with other games too now

Thanks to everyone who helped!

Do you have a blue screen at all when this happens? Does the event viewer show anything?

With what you described, especially the sound issue, it sounds like it may be the board. If it was RAM, you would most likely get a blue screen at some point. It could be the PSU, but your PC wouldn't "freeze", it would just shut off.

What is the brand and model of the power supply? If it's from a pre-built PC I'm guessing it's a low quality one, even if it has a good wattage rating, very few OEM systems use good quality power supplies.

Have you tried a clean Windows setup with new drivers? Is anything overclocked?

Thank you 2 for your answers!

I never got a bluescreen, and yes the event viewer shows an error at the moment i try starting those games. Its the Event-id 56

The power supply is a Sharkoon SHA550-12W and yea i guess it really is a cheap one..
I havent tried a clean windows install yet, because i never noticed i had this issue. It really just crashes when starting 2 games, the rest works just fine

The only overclocked part would be the GPU but this one is a special OC model, so i didnt manually oc this one

The games that don't have issues are all very low requirements games that would not stress the system much.

I suggest you replace the power supply fast, even if it's not the cause of the issue. It powers everything in your system, if it dies, you risk killing just about anything else along with the power supply. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html something from tier 1 or tier 3 is good here, tier 3 at the least and it's not really suggested to use tier 3 in a gaming grade system since you are looking at saving maybe $15 vs taking a chance to burn out $400 worth of parts.

If the issue goes on after the PSU swap, look into doing a clean Windows setup and testing with that to rule out software issues.
