Hello,

my old PC mainboard supports DDR2 1066/800/667/533 frequency. I currently have 2x 2GB OCZ Platinum DDR2 PC-8500 (1066) installed. I just bought 2x 2 GB OCZ DDR2 PC-8000 (1000) to upgrade my system. Was this a stupid mistake? Will it be supported? And what are the best adjustments in the BIOS? Can I just OC the PC-8000 to 1066 Mhz?

Thank you in advance!
M.

Solution
Mixing memory modules can produce all sorts of compatibility issues, instead of trying to OC the slower memory, you should try running at the common slower speed (800) for stability's sake. Once stable, you can try bumping up the speed.

From a user perspective, you will see little (to no) difference running between 1066 and 800.
