Well do you know that the 580 is in good working order? With a new GPU you have warranty, buying used is a case of "buyer beware". The 580 (if in good working condition) will definitely outperform the 750Ti. However it's going to use a lot more power. So you need to consider if your PSU is powerful enough and good enough quality to run it.

He probably used the GTX 580 for a while and It's very likely it won't last nowhere near as long as a GTX 750 Ti. All depends on what type of performance you're expecting aswell, the GTX 750 Ti might already be good enough for your use.

Get the 750Ti...no question.
The 580 is almost certainly out of warranty, has many years in its legs and consumes an inordinate amount of power in comparison.
Depending on what you are playing I think the 750Ti should be your pick.

lol...200 for a 750Ti...If you get a bad one you give it back though... I mean it's just normal returns policy.
