I realise there are many topics about this question, and I know how to install them, but I have a different type of question. I have always installed them this way, I would first unistall the old drivers, then I would delete all the invalid registry keys in Regedit concerning AMD and after that I would reinstall my computer and manually delete any left over folders which I would proceed with installing the new drivers, now, I have an AMD card (7770), and there is this new Crimson type of drivers, where I just get a notification that theres been a new version of graphic driver and if I would like to install them, but, that is much faster and does not include all of the previous steps I wrote (unistall, check regedit, manually delete left over folders, install), so, was I doing this wrong whole this time, is installing graphic drivers that simple, where you dont actually need to unistall or anything, you just download the new version and install it, and the old one gets overwritten? Should I from now on forget about all of that and always just press ''Upgrade'' when the notification pops up? Picture is below in the lnk

Wow...that's pretty overkill there. Why are you messing with your registry? I generally take the following steps:

1.) Install updated driver.

Sometimes, I get fancy and do the following steps if I have issues (Nvidia, I'm looking at you):

1.) Uninstall old drivers
2.) Install new drivers fresh.

(Not trying to be a smart-ass - I've just never heard of going through all the trouble you are.)

Hahahaha, yeah, I was always doing all of those steps, hmm, youre saying ''unistall old drivers'' but that would mean after some time they would all add up in space since the previous one doesnt get deleted?

Not sure what you're asking - uninstalling the old driver makes them go away. I mean, technically, you might have the original installers in your download folder or something, but that's easily deleted.

If you're worried about "residue" of the old drivers hanging around....you'll have way more problems with kludge in the OS building up over time than you ever will of drivers, and it's not like you reinstall Windows after every update, right?

If you're an idiot, that makes me one too. I do the same as you. I only fool with the registry once in a blue moon - it's rarely ever necessary and can do far more harm than good. And worrying about hard drive space for system components is a total waste of time when nowadays you can buy a 1 TB (that's 1000 GB folks) hard drive for $40 or a 3 TB one for $80. A complete fresh install of Windows 10 Pro takes a grand total of about 15 GB. That's 15/1000 of the HDD for the whole system or 1.5% of a 1 TB drive. Folks would do well to keep that in perspective.
