hi so i have a amd a4-6300 cpu and a msi MSI A68HM-E33 V2 MSI FM2 and the gpu im getting is a EVGA GeForce GT 740 4GB GDDR5 Dual DVI mHDMI Graphics Cards 04G-P4-3748-KR now can these go together in harmony and also i have a 400 watt ps
I would like to see a higher power supply, around 550 watts, although 500 would do for now... And they will work together, but only if there's nothing else keeping the CPU busy... If you have programs running and consuming CPU resources while trying to game, you're gonna have a bad time
Yes. I would advise against it, as its a low performance gpu, and bad value for money. If you can stretch your budget for a GTX 750 or better yet a 750 Ti, then that would be a lot better.

A 500w PSU for a 64w GT 740? Seriously?
For future expandability. I said I would like to see it, I didn't say it was necessarily the first priority

well this is only temporary ofcourse soon after i get the gpu i plan to get a new cpu which is a fx-6300 and a new motherboard which i havent found one right yet

The FX series was one of my biggest mistakes, I don't recommend them. They consume a lot of power for the small performance they offer, and they have a very low IPC, so you don't get to take full advantage of the clock speed they offer

Dont do it. You would be going from one bad platform to another.
Go to a modern intel platform, even if its just an i3 6100.

You said "500 would do for now...."
Must have been thinking of something completely different, whoops
ahh well if i could i would like to stay with amd so any recommendations for a amd cpu thats not very very expensive but is good
If you must stay with AMD, then getting a 860k 870k 880k for your current platform would be a reasonable upgrade... Otherwise wait for their new Zen CPUs, as they have nothing on the market current that can compare well to Intel.

what about the amd 8320
I wouldnt recommend it due to you having to spend money changing motherboard, on another old and out of date platform (I use the 8350 as my work PC).
My i5 2500k from 2011, is much better than my 8350 is almost every way. In gaming its miles better.
