Hi, so my problem is I got this new computer with geforce gtx 960, and im learning stuff about it, but today i got on my computer watching youtube for an hour or more, and then i was getting ready to play a game, i checked my gigabyte oc guru to check stuff and get it it overclock mode, but as i see, it showed dont in the bottom something with overclocked vga.. but as i opened it, i saw temperature up to 50C which wasnt yet the case on this computer, its normally around 20-30C, i managed to cool it down to 29C but i see that everything in my statistics are way up than it was before, like memory clock is on 6000 i dont think it was that high yesterday and I can lower it only by 1000 mhz, same with gpu clock, i think its a little higher that normally and does not react to my commands to lower it, it stays on 1240Mhz no matter overclock mode or ECO or gaming.. So what can I do lower those and I see that my gpu has much bigger voltage than normally right now its 1.068V.. so any help with those ?

Not sure I see a problem. The GPU will downclock itself to save power. When you give it a task it will clock back up, even watching youtube would be enough to get it to do something.

As for temperature 50C is nothing for a GPU, they can comfortably hang out in 90C range while providing their full potential. Depending on the GPUs cooling profile and effectiveness these temperatures should be lower then 90C under full load (hopefully). Many newer cards will not spin the fans unless needed, so the higher temperatures when idling may be normal.

You may want to provide the specific model and brand of GTX960 that you have.

Okay, but I just wonder, why it started to overclock it self for no reason.. and raise temperature, when few days ago or even yesterday it was working nicely.. Oh and can you tell me, on how much gpu- memory clock i can leave it on ? memory max is 8000Mhz not sure how much about gpu clock..

I would leave it alone myself. GTX960 should be around 7000Mhz stock, and most don't go above this by too much. Pretty much as fast as GDDR5 can go.

GPU clock for the maxwell series is anywhere from 1100-1350 out of the box. If you have the model, you can just match the original specs. If you are just adjusting this through MSI afterburner or EVGA precision just shut it off, and as suggested fire up GPU-Z to monitor. That should get you the stock maximums.

I'm still not sure what information started you on this path. Not familiar with the OC Guru tool myself, but that is presumably intended for overclocking. You could use it to undervolt and underclock your card to reduce temperatures, but you aren't anywhere near needing to do that.

Since the system is new to you, just use it normally and if everything continues to operate as expected, all is well.
