Hello Everyone,

This is my specs-

i) intel Core i7 4790K
ii) Gigabyte GA-Z97M-D3H
iii) Corsair Vengeance 8 GB (8x1) DDR3 1600 MHz
iv) Corsair VS650
v) Cooler Master Elite 311 Cabinet
vi) CircleCT Led Case Fans 120mm x3
vii) GAINWARD GeForce GT 640 2 GB DDR3
viii) Stock Cooler

My cpu idles around 40 degree Celsius and under load it rises upto 80 degree Celsius. I've checked everything (i.e. Cooler, Thermal Paste) and all is fine. While playing Dying Light it peaks around 74 degree Celsius. So are these temperatures safe?

Also, I live in India and its summer here so my room temperature fluctuates around 35-38 degree Celsius. On some days it rises as high as 44 degree Celsius.

Solution
80c IS safe at stock speeds. Intel CPUs throttle before damage can occur, and Intel set them to throttle at 100c.

Even bouncing off of the 100c limit, a 4790K will likely last for years. At 80c, it will long outlast its usefulness.

Intel would not sell a CPU with a warranty, and include a heatsink that would cause it to fail prematurely.

Those temps aren't safe, considering that the chip isn't even over-clocked. With such high room temperatures I recommend you to invest on a high end cooler for the processor, otherwise it is not going to last long.

on the stock cooler that is expected and fine. But yes you could get a better cooler.

Just seems a strange obsession to me. Why spend $$ to reduce the temperature of silicon, when it's designed to run safely at those temperatures for decades? Again, I can see spending money if you plan to run the CPU outside of spec, or if the noise the stock cooler makes is offensive, but I've never seen a non-overclocked CPU die under the stock cooler. Better to spend that money on something else that brings meaningful gains.

I've purchased this chip for $420 as technology is quite expensive in India so it'll take some time for me to purchase a new cooler. So will this 4790K last for about 9-10 years if I operate it at that temperature?

Also, I do not plan on overclocking as I'm a guy who likes to run overclocking friendly CPU without actually overclocking them :)
