Hi All,

I've been browsing the ROG. Tom's, and other forums for an answer to this question and I haven't found it yet. For my scenario I have three SSDs not in a raid. My first two SSDs (including the system boot) are plugged into the intel chipset Sata III port 0 and port 1.

For those familiar with the motherboard I now have two options. I either plug my new SSD (the third one) into a ASMedia controlled Sata III or I plug it into the native intel chipset sata II. My question is, latency and bandwidth wise, which one should I do? Will I have better latency and just slower throughput with the Sata II or is the ASMedia latency ok?

Thank you!

Solution
I would argue to just always put ssds on intel ports, but you could just test it on both with CristalDiskMark, and see which config is faster...

Thanks ar2uro, I just connected the drive to the intel Sata II and other than performance on the order of 30 percent worse it is performing well enough. For me the big issue was a matter of latency as I've heard some poor reviews of the ASMedia storage controller.

Going to mark this as solved for now.

Cheers,
Neb
