Can I repair a ribbon connector lock on my motherboard using masking tape?

It's the input for a ribbon cable for the keyboard, the little lock thingy broke, and I was wondering if it was a potential fire hazard if I were to simply put the parts back together with masking tape.

The motherboard is in a laptop made by a manufacturer (Acer) ; they used masking tape on parts of the motherboard so I assume its not the biggest fire hazard.

The connector itself I believe is made of plastic, with little pins on the back that connects to the motherboard itself.

No way to confirm 100% that it is the same tape, but chances are it is the same. I don't see manufacturers using 2 different types of tapes on the assemble line as this will create problems of identifying the tapes used.

However...

I took off a piece of tape that held a random wire down (it had no special purpose really) and I'm using it to repair the connector lock. I should have mentioned that prior, but I just assumed it was masking tape. Sorry!!

Using my common sense, I'm assuming using this special tape is safe; but I'll wait for confirmation before potentially burning down my home!

However, it is prudent to examine both tapes using a watchmaker's loupe (5x magnification) to check visually before proceeding.
