I've had this gaming computer for quite sometime now, and with it contained an AMD FX-8350 CPU and for the longest time i kept the stock cooler on. Even though it was really loud and quite warm when i put my hand up to after some time, it never really bothered me because it was not affecting my activities. I had bought an Arctic Alpine 64 Plus Cooler+Heatsink a while ago and had similar problems to my following situation, so i took it out and put the stock back. i never got to the bottom of it because I will admit i am quite lazy and the stock wasnt bothering me too too much. Recently i had the last straw when my computer overheated, completely shutting down and corrupting a save file i had in a new game (DARK SOULS III I dont know if that matters). So i put the new cooler in, and the CPU overheated again. I reapplied the thermal glue (TG-7) because i put a layer on it instead of just a pea sized amount, still didnt work. I tried removing the old old thermal glue and the most recent with alcohol this time instead of just a cloth, still nothing. I continuously removed and replaced the cooler to make sure it was in correctly. I even realized one of my 80mm case fans were on backwards and switched that. Currently my CPU idle temp is somewhere in between 23-30 degrees C, give or take a few. I can go into a game for approximately 20 min before it overheats again, rising to around 85. I was wondering if i should either switch out the new one with the stock (bc i did say i switched a fan around), buy a new cooler or one of you geniuses (no sarcasm intended) could help me with this. Thanks!
