Card Readers? Card reader SD? Multi-In-1 Card Reader?

So I was going over a few laptops and each gave me these different names for card readers.

I just want to clarify,what are the difference(if any) on these card readers?
do they use the same port?(card reader port)


  • -Card Reader
    -Card reader SD
    -Multi-In-1 Card Reader
    -ExpressCard Slot

The first two are most likely a single-slot card reader that supports SD/SDHC/SDXC cards only.

The third one is most likely a single-slot card reader that supports multiple card types; SD/MS/CF/MMC/xD.

The final one is a PCMCIA slot commonly found on laptops to add additional functions or ports.

so I take it that the first three,Card Reader,SD, and Multi-In-1 Card Reader uses the same port , whilst the ExpressCard slot uses a different port?
