Can I Use USB 3.0 Hubs In USB 2.0 Port?

I Have USB 2.0 Port In My Motherboard.
Can i Plug the USB 3.0 hub in 2.0 port and get usb 3.0 speed?
My Specs
Mobo - Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2PT
AMD FX 4300
6 GB Ram
GT 640 2 GB
1 TB HDD
I Wanted To Use An External HDD As Internal. So Can i use 3.0 USB Hub In USB 2.0 Port Of My Mobo?

Hey there, The_Click.

Even though the drive might be withing the case, it will still not be used as an internal if it's connected via a USB connection, as internal drives use SATA. As for you questions, unfortunately, if you connect the USB 3.0 hub to a USB 2.0 port, the speed of the devices you've connected to the hub would still be limited to the speed of the USB 2.0 port.

i have the same q 5 years later but it works right!? I have a keyboard with 2.0 connection type and i'd like to buy a 3.0 powered hub and connect it to a 2.0 port on my very old pc, so i can use my rgb keyboard compatible w 2.0 port to be powered by the 3.0 hub. Is it possible?
