Hi,

I am Vimal. I am an FX Artist

My Pc workstation config is -
Sabertooth 990FX R.2 MotherBoard
8150 Bulldozer Black Edition Processor
FirePro V5900 Graphic Card
4 x 4 Ram 16Gb DDR 3
650 watts Smps
Cooler Master 690 II Ad cabinet.

I need to buy an cooling system for my above cofig.

My question is, which cooling will be better? Liquid cooling or air cooling??

Please suggest me the best cooling system and it should support the above config and it should suit my cabinet. Else I will buy a new big tower. Suggest me a good big tower.

Also I do fear for liquid cooling system as it may leak and spoil other components.

I live in chennai (hot city) - Tamilnadu - India.

Well given that you say you live in a hot climate and you use your PC as an FX Artist, it would make sense to liquid cool to me, but if you are not concerned with higher temperatures and potentially louder fan noise, you can use an air cooler with no problem.

If it were me though, I would use a liquid cooler such as the Corsair H100i. Not too expensive and works very well! Even if you don't overclock your CPU, water cooling will be cooler and probably quieter than an air cooler.

Hi Vimal,

Given that you live in a hot climate in India and you are an FX artist, i assume your CPU will run hot most of the time. My personal suggestion would be to buy a liquid cooler. There are many great options, however i personally use a Corsair all in one cooler and highly recommend it! The current cooler master case you have can accommodate either a 120mm and 240mm radiator, however i suggest you purchase a 240mm liquid cooler, such as the Corsair H100i. This will allow you to run a decent overclock on you CPU if you want as well!

I can't guarantee that the liquid cooler won't ever leak, but leakages are becoming more rare these days as cooling technology advances, so it's not something i would worry too much about.

I have had my all in one cooler for about a year now and there have been no problems, and my CPU stays very cool.

All the best!

Hi,

I will not overclock my pc.. So now, should I need to go for liquid coolers?

Thanks for the info. One more thing. H100i has some disadvantages I heard. Can you suggest me any good ones please?

A liquid cooler is unnecessary and expensive. I don't know what air coolers are available to you, but any tower heatsink with a 120mm fan should be more than sufficient for your CPU. In the US, you can get a reasonable cooler for the equivalent of around 1750INR.
