What 3rd party app? Check if the drive is recognized by Disk Management, and if it's not, check if it's recognized by the computer's BIOS/UEFI. Basically, since the drive was used with a console, it should be recognized by Disk Management and if this is the case, all you'll need to do in order to properly use it, is to reformat the drive.
