I want to upgrade my old gpu to a newer and better one, the one i currently have is a Nvidia GeForce GT130.I am planing to get myself a GTX750TI Asus with 2 gigs of ddr5.My current gpu consumes 350W and the gtx750ti uses 150W.Will it work with my pc? My other components are 4 gigs of ram, q6600 @2,4GHz (4 cores), a Gigabyte G31M-S2L motherboard and 500W psu. Will it work? :??:

Solution

Yes, it will work and should be a major...
The GT130 doesn't consume 350 watts, it recommends the total wattage from your PSU is at least 350 watts, it only consumes 75 watts http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-130/specifications

Also, I think that the 750ti would be a great upgrade for you.

Where are you getting your wattages from? The 750ti reference consumes 60 watts http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-750-ti/specifications

I would like to know the make and model of your PSU, so that I can assure compatibility.

your psu is obviously enough and yea it should fit with your pci slot but then again wait for some more more experienced.

Hi,

The only hard requirements for getting the 750ti to run in your computer are
1) PCI-e Port on your motherboard
2) 6-pin PCI power connector on your PSU (I think most versions of 750ti do NOT require this)

From the parts I see you are running a dated build, if your PSU does not have the 6-pin connector go for a 750ti that does not require one.

Planing on getting this one http://www.asus.com/Graphics-Cards/GTX750TIPH2GD5/specifications/
PCI-e port is x16
I dont think the one I am looking at does require a 6-pin PCI connector, read some stuff only OC ones need it and if they have multiple fans, hope you figured out something thanks to that link. I really want to buy this one.

Hi: FYI:
I just installed a gigabyte 750 TI in my dell with "460 watt" power supply. Looks like everything so far is working good. I had an ATI/AMD 5770 Radeon HD, that wasn't supported by Dell or AMD for windows 10. I went with Gigabyte (nvidia chip). Just make sure you go to NVidia and download the latest drivers for this. Do A clean unistall using DDU display driver utility. You can find that using google. Make sure you are in a "safe boot" before you run it to clean all AMD and NVIDIA drivers out. Then it will re-boot, and put in your card, then run the newest driver, now as of this date, is 364.22. It will recognize you card and load all drivers. Good luck
