Should I get an AMD fx-6300 or an AMD fx-8300

I just want to know what people think I should get between the two processors. I am quite tight on money even though there isn't a big price difference between the two. I've heard that the 8300 is better but not by much for the price difference. I just want to hear people's recommendations on this as I feel it will be the turning point to what processor I choose to get.

I've owned both over the past few years and for me the FX-8300 is worth the extra $10-$20. Newegg often has it for $109.99 and that's good for an 8-core CPU even if the architecture is four years old. In older games you won't notice much of a difference, but in new ones that take advantage of 4+ cores/threads the 8300 is definitely better. Plus they're both just 95W so are fine for a broad range of motherboards.

I'm sure others will chime in about an i3-6100 and it is better than both of those and would be my choice if I were building a completely new PC from scratch.

I already have everything but the processor so that is why my question was geared specifically between these two as they are the most in my price range and are what I originally wanted for my computer. Thanks for your recommendation as well. That information is going to help a lot in my choice between the two.

Yes my mother board can support 125w cpu's
